DISCLAIMER: The 2021 FREESKIER Ski Test is being held under strict Covid-19 protocols, ensuring everyone has tested negative for the virus, wears a mask and physically distances from others involved in the event.
It seems like only yesterday that the FREESKIER crew, our coveted group of testers and brand representatives from over 30 of the best ski manufacturers in the business converged last year in Aspen for the annual Ski Test, the biggest, baddest ski review in the industry. Since then, so much has changed—you know, that whole Coronavirus thing—but we’re proud to say that WE’RE BACK and we’re doing the damn thing for the 19th consecutive year.
Yet, Aspen’s unrivaled terrain remains the same—675 acres and 3,267 feet of vertical—offering the ideal testing grounds for ranking and reviewing the best skis on sale next season. Everyone testing skis rates each pair on the spot, so we can compile the most accurate information possible in preparation of our annual Buyer’s Guide, which comes complete with gear reviews and expert advice on how to find your dream setup.
Thanks to Aspen Snowmass for hosting our rowdy crew; The Ski Monster for being a one-stop-shop—online and in-store—for everything ski-related; and the Limelight Hotel for providing comfy digs just steps away from the Silver Queen Gondola during this year’s week-long test.
Below, take a peek at our first night in Aspen—the load-in and storage process of hundreds of new skis—and stay tuned online for complete coverage all week long. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, check out the hashtag #FREESKIERFEST for more, and be sure to subscribe to the print-version of the magazine to see the complete results from the 19th annual FREESKIER Ski Test land on your doorstep in the fall.
