Spring Rippin: Less is more with Hunter Hess

Deep blue skies consume the area above your head, emphasizing the sun lit spring time snow. A few wispy clouds lackadaisically saunter on by, and the occasional song bird echos in the breeze of the pines. The hum of the chairlift, the carefree laughter, the horrible sunburn; spring skiing is indeed here. It’s an elusive feeling to capture, and, more often than not, it’s the simple things that show the real freedom that can accompany skiing in 50 degrees under the sun. Hunter Hess is someone that COULD pull together eons of crowd pleasing footage, as demonstrated by the MAGMA Rough Cut, but when it comes to a stylistic presentation, you only need a small squeeze of da juice.

Accompanied by the infamous Owen Dahlberg laying down heat behind the lens and through crafty editing, “itsnotmuch” is a small taste of the wildness that went down at Mount Bachelor and continues in the high alpine across the globe as the summer months roll on. Hopefully we will be seeing much more summer content from this dynamic duo as the days grow long and the snow grows sparse. But after all, less is more.
